Nutrition can be sustained only through healthy gut in our body…which we often ignored due to lack of awareness. However healthy gut ensures homoeostasis inside the body which we often discuss as ‘we are what we eat’ but most of us may not know how crucial is the role of gut that actually a medium through which nutrients has to absorbed and assimilate inside the body.Good bacteria proliferation in gut has a major role to play in overall maintenance of immunity in humans.Thus, we can say that it is a key to sustain overall health. Gut health can be improved through few steps,which are as follows :

- Physical Activity & Regular Exercise – Physical Activity and Exercise enhances the peristaltic movement in gut, thus eases the defecation process which in turn removes toxins from the body and checks proliferation of bad bacteria.
- Water Intake – Water intake must be ample to maintain the pH balance inside gut, that ultimately leads to proliferation of good bacteria.
- Intake of Fibrous Foods – Fibrous foods helps in removal of toxins from the body and eases the defecation process thus ensures proliferation of good bacteria.
- Proper Sleep – Duration of sleep is very important for the gut health, which must be in between 7-9 hours..lack of sleep often leads to digestive discomfort owing to proliferation of bad bacteria…there may be reason of imbalance in pH as secretion of gastric juices enhances in sleeplessness or anxiety as per earlier reports.
- Management of Stress – Stress is in itself a big problem and it should be sorted out first as it creates other hormonal imbalance too..it also reported to be associated with GERD…or severe hyperacidity issues..thus stress and bad gut health can be said synonymous..
- Intake of Probiotics and Prebiotics – Intake of Probiotics and prebiotics can be helpful in proliferation of good bacteria in gut and thus should be consumed regularly as a part of meal. Pickles, sprouts and fermented foods has enough pro and prebiotics. Curd is one of the most common probiotic that has a very beneficial effect on our gut.
All the things must be kept in mind to make our gut more efficient in sustaining proper nutrition that certainly boost up the metabolism and also enhances the immunity level of the whole body.
